Our breast cancer team swept the GOLD the U.S. National Competition this past weekend in Chattanooga, Tennessee. DBC medaled 14 times in 4 divisions! We raced everyday in 3 - 200 meter races, 3 - 500 meter races and a 1000 meter race and at least one of our teams won gold in every final. This is an amazing accomplishment for our our organization!
Our coach, Pat Barker came from Vancouver, Canada and trained us everyday at 5:30 a.m. on the Ashley River for 3 months. It was an exhausting and exhilarating experience for us all. Building endurance is half the battle in these types of sports but most of the BCS team are "missing body parts" or still undergoing chemo or radiation......not any easy task indeed!

The Charleston Dragon Boat Festival on May 8th at Brittlbank was a blast! Thank you to our Sponsors and to all the corporate and community teams that registered to participate!! With your energy and your support it was a great Festival. Having all the spectators was wonderful, 65 teams from the Lowcountry, Pawleys Island, Charlotte raced for glory, for fun, for the benefit of the cancer survivor wellness programs of Dragon Boat Charleston and Roper St Francis Cancer Center. We offer cancer survivor's the opportunity to 'hit the restart button' after a cancer diagnosis by participating in this fabulous wellness program. Whether you are a competitive racer or a 'Saturday morning paddler' - life is better on the water.
We offer the community the opportunity to paddle and race in the fastest growing water sport in the world. Dragon Boat Charleston is fun, it is on the water, it is a sport you need to try!
